The XXIII IAMM TAPC CHAPTER Annual State Conference with theme “Essentials – Man & Microbe” was organized by Andhra Medical College, on 31st January to 2nd February 2020. Dr P. Appa Rao, Professor & HOD, Department of Microbiology, Andhra Medical College was the Organizing Secretary of the conference.
The conference was preceded by Two (2) pre conference workshops on 31st January 2020.

The conference began with Free Papers session followed by Dr. K. Rajya Lakshmi Oration which was delivered by Dr. K.R.L.Suryakirani, Professor & HOD, Department of Microbiology, Rangaraya Medical College on “In house techniques in diagnostic microbiology – My experience”. This was followed by two (2) informative guest lectures on “Biological Warfare Agents: Bacillus anthracis, the causative agent of anthrax as the kingpin” by Dr. A.K.Goel, Scientist ‘F’ & Joint Director Head, Bioprocess Technology Division, Defence Research & Development Establishment and on “Gut biome and Health” by Dr. P.V.Satyanarayana, Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon, Care hospital, Visakhapatnam
Five Postgraduates participated in Dr. C. S. Bhaskaran prize paper category followed by The President’s Oration delivered by Dr. P. Shashikala Reddy, President IAMM TAPC Chapter on “Fungal Ball, Fleeting Shadows – The Bane of A Microbiologist”.
General body meeting was held in the evening and Nimra Medical College, volunteered to conduct XXIV IAMM TAPC Annual Conference by Nimra Institute of Medical Sciences, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh.
Inagural function was held in the evening (Presided by) attended by IAMM TAPC Chapter President: Dr. P. Shashikala Reddy, Secretary: Dr. Kasturi , Treasurer: Dr. P. Vasundhara, Organising Secretary: Dr. P. Appa Rao and the team of executive members of IAMM TAPC Chapter (2019-2020) and all the delegates. Dr. P. Syama Prasad, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr. NTRUHS was the Chief Guest and Dr. P.V. Sudhakar, Principal, Andhra Medical College was the Chief Patron and Dr. G. Arjuna, Superintendent, King George Hospital was the Guest of Honour. Dr. P. Kasturi presented the report on association activities and Dr V.Shailaja  presented the annual report. Conference Souvenir was released by the Chief Guest, Chief Patron and the Guest of Honour followed by a memorable event of felicitation to four (4) senior faculty members, namely Dr. P.A.Jayakar, Dr. T.V.Ramani, Dr. M. Leela Sriram, Dr. K. Bhaskara Rao. Sumptuous food was served in banquet dinner.

 Second day started with Postgraduate Pedagogue (Guntur Medical College Prize), which was presented by postgraduates of Gandhi Medical College, Secunderabad; Kurnool Medical College, Kurnool; Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal; Rangaraya Medical College, Kakinada; Siddhartha Medical College, Vijayawada.
Later Postgraduate quiz (Dr. Satyanarayana Murthy Prize) conducted by Dr. D.S.Murty, Associate Professor, Rangaraya Medical College and participated by all the delegates. This was followed by three (3) enlightening guest lectures by Dr. Tummalapalli Venkateswara Rao, Professor & HOD, Dept. of Microbiology, Travancore Medical College, Kerala on “Emerging challenges in Diagnostic Microbiology The Best We Can Contribute”; Dr.Vidyanidhi Gumma, Senior Medical Microbiologist and QMS expert on “Newer Guidelines of  Tuberculosis Diagnosis under TB Program”; Dr. Muralikrishna Voona, Surgical Oncologist, Mahatma Gandhi Cancer Hospital on “Common viral induced  malignancies and management”. Later Senior faculty Prize (RMC prize) papers were presented followed by junior faculty prize (Smt. B. S. Lakshmi prize) papers. In a brief session Dr.K.Rama Lakshmi, Assistant Professor, Andhra Medical College gave a lecture on “Molecular Diagnostics to Combat AMR”. Thirty four (34) Posters were evaluated for Sri I S N Murty Prize category.
            In the valedictory function Prizes were awarded to winners in various competitions followed by vote of thanks by Co – Organizing Secretary Dr. P. Kamala & Organizing Secretary Dr. P. Appa Rao.

6th FRCPath ( Part- II ) Exam Course


                                      6th FRCPath ( Part- II ) Exam Course
                                              15th to 19th July 2019

This course is intended for candidates who have passed the Part- I examination of the Royal College of Pathologists ( UK) in Medical Microbiology, Virology and Infection prevention, preparatory to the Part- II examination. We are privileged to have an overseas Faculty from the UK for the Part- II course this year 2019.

The course will last 5 days with an orientation towards the theory examination papers and practical challenges covering a range of clinical cases, practical work including antibiotic therapy and infection prevention advice. This will happen over the first 2 1/2 days  The final 2 1/2 days  will consist of a mock theory and  practical examination with clinical cases  and OSPE stations as per the new pattern of examination.  There will be a focus on modern aspects of practice of medical microbiology and intense preparation before coming for the course is advised. The course will last from 8.30 am to at least 6.00 pm on all the days and will be intense covering all aspects required for the examinations.The time table  of the course will be sent to those candidates registered for the course .

The course is followed by a “HIC course – from Basics to the recent trends” on the 20th and 21st July 2019 , which is a mixed bag of lectures and practical workshop sessions that may be useful preparatory to the FRCPath examinations with a focus on Infection control and prevention. The registration for the HIC course will be separate from the FRCPath examination course  A tentative programme for the same is also attached on this mail for your reference. The final brochure of the same will be sent to all by early next week.
